Skógafoss

Skógafoss, a notable waterfall near the town of Skógar in South Iceland, wasn’t the first we saw on our journey, but was the first that required climbing over 500 stairs to reach the top. Very memorable!
We smile in our selfie with Skógafoss behind us, bundled up and brimming with excitement. Black sand covers the ground below, which we would come to understand as commonplace. The amount of geographical features in Iceland that are formed by volcanoes and their byproducts, like the black sand, is prolific and fascinating to learn about.
Though it was a windy, rainy day, Laren decided to conquer the stairs (which had been all but enveloped by the mountainside) while Vim documented their trek from below through video.
In the recording, you can hear the rushing Skógafoss in the background while Vim points out Laren about halfway up the stairs in their bright, pink jacket. They wave to Vim joyously, their heart beat in sync with the rhythm of the cascading sheets of water.
